Frequently Asked Questions

We know that newcomers want to know what to expect, so please get to know us through these answers to the most asked questions we receive.

What time are services?

Sunday School starts at 10:00 a.m.

Morning worship begins at 11:00 a.m., or soon thereafter. Sometimes Sunday School runs a bit long or the pastor and deacons spend extra time in prayer prior to church beginning, both of which may cause the church service to begin a little late.

We're casual about the church start time, although the pastor does generally end our service by noon.

Where should I park?

The entire front of the church yard and along the fence is paved parking. We also have overflow parking on the grassy area across the road from the church building. There is no reserved parking, although our elderly members do tend to park closer to the front door.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever is comfortable to you, although we do recommend that shorts, skirts/dresses be of a modest length.

We have members who like to dress up for church and other members who prefer shorts and polos. In general you will find most of our men in jeans or slacks with polo or collar shirts. Most of our ladies wear slacks, dresses, capris, or jeans with blouses.

So that we are not always "dressed up" for church, we have casual/blue jeans Sunday every 5th Sunday so that everyone feels free to dress down and be comfortable at least once in a while. Even our members who usually dress up more for church take advantage and dress down on these days.

Where should I sit?

When you arrive, you are free to sit in any pew you feel comfortable in. Many of our long-time church members have "usual spots" that they sit in, but you are welcome to sit where you feel most comfortable. Like most churches, though, seats tend to fill from the back to the front! Early birds get a back pew!

What kind of worship experience should I expect?

We are a traditional church, and our worship reflects that.

We have an order of worship that begins with singing and prayer, a time for tithes and offering, a children's message time, scripture reading, and a pastoral prayer and sermon delivered by the preacher.

We sing from the Baptist Hymnal. We do not have a band, but have piano and organ music. We raise our voices in praise and make a joyful noise unto the Lord!

What age do you have programs for?

We can serve all ages for Sunday School.

At present we offer Sunday School for early elementary and for adults, with the adults being all in one class that meets in the sanctuary. Our only children at this time are around kindergarten to first grade age, but we have volunteers who will convene a class for other ages if they attend.

Most of our church is middle age and older, although we have some younger families who attend church services with their school age chldren.

Children are welcome in our church service, although the younger ones usually go out with a teacher after the Children's Message given by the pastor during the regular church service.

Because we do not have many children in the church at this time, we do not offer youth and children's programming outside of church and Sunday School.
